A live wedding painting is a bespoke work of art created in real time during your wedding celebration. As your day unfolds, I paint a meaningful moment—capturing not only how it looked, but how it felt. The result is a timeless heirloom that preserves the romance, emotion, and atmosphere of your wedding day.
To begin, inquire through my contact form with your wedding date, location, and relevant information. If your date is available, you’ll receive a custom proposal outlining your selected canvas size, travel details, and investment. A signed contract and retainer officially reserve your date on my calendar.
Because I accept a limited number of weddings each year, I recommend booking 6–12 months in advance, particularly for peak wedding season dates. Early booking ensures availability and allows time to thoughtfully plan your painting.
I arrive two hours prior to the ceremony to set up, study the space, and capture reference photos of the venue, décor, and meaningful details. This allows me to begin painting with intention and ensures a seamless, unhurried experience.
Most couples choose a defining moment such as the ceremony, first kiss, or first dance. Together, we’ll select the scene that best reflects your story and vision prior to the wedding day. We will have a carefully curated meeting to ensure you and I are on the same page for your vision!
I paint throughout your celebration as guests watch the artwork come to life. My presence is elegant and unobtrusive, blending naturally into your day while offering a captivating experience for your guests. I even coordinated the colors I use in my display with your design colors!
Yes—this is one of the most beloved parts of the experience. I invite guests to add a single brushstroke to the canvas, creating a meaningful and interactive alternative to a traditional guest book. Couples often cherish this element for the personal connection it adds to their artwork.
The painting will be well underway by the end of the event, allowing guests to see the vision come together. After the wedding, I bring the piece back to my studio to complete fine details and refinements. Final delivery typically takes 4–8 weeks to ensure the highest quality finish.
You’ll select your canvas size during the booking process. Size is determined by how prominently you’d like the artwork displayed in your home and how much detail you want included. Larger canvases allow for more intricate elements, architectural detail, and a grander presence.
I typically set up in a visible but unobtrusive area near the reception or ceremony space. I require a 6x6 foot empty space. I bring all necessary, battery-operated equipment, allowing for a clean and flexible setup. While additional lighting is appreciated if available, it is not required. I coordinate with your planner or venue to ensure a smooth and discreet setup.
Yes, while I am based in Denver, Colorado, I travel throughout the United States! I personally manage all travel arrangements, which are seamlessly reflected in your custom proposal.
Weddings are beautifully unpredictable. I work seamlessly with timeline shifts and can paint from reference photos if needed. Your final artwork will still reflect the magic and emotion of your day!

Guests always rave about their portraits after the event!
"Sarah Jane was an absolute delight to work with and brought such a unique and memorable touch to our wedding. She created watercolor portraits of our guests during the reception, and everyone loved watching her work. It was so fun to see each painting come to life, and the portraits ended up being beautiful keepsakes that our friends and family will treasure forever. What I especially appreciated was how professional, organized, and personable she was. She engaged with our guests in a warm and friendly way, managed the setup flawlessly, and ensured that everyone had the opportunity to be included without slowing down the flow of the evening. Her presence added an interactive, creative element to our wedding that felt both elegant and playful. We received so many compliments from guests about Sarah Jane’s portraits, and I cannot recommend her highly enough. If you want a one-of-a-kind experience that leaves your guests with lasting memories and something tangible to take home, she is the perfect choice."
